Description
Wat Pa Tham Samphan (วัดป่าถ้ำสัมพันธ์ at ภูพาน) is located in the Phu Phan Mountains, about 45 minutes from downtown Sakon Nakhon and only 3 minutes from Wat Phra Phutthabat Namthip, with its majestic courtyard of 119 white Buddha statues. The temple is noted for its beautiful teak "Dharma Practice Pavilion" within a rustic forest setting.
What is Dharma Practice? We've translated the following words from Phra Ajarn Prasopphon Yansiro (พระอาจารย์ประสพพร ญาณสีโร), who has taken up residence at Wat Pa Tham Samphan, an an introduction:
"When we have the intention to have faith, let us strive to have even more, regardless of the day, time, or place. There are various things which taint the purity of our hearts, but when we have the opportunity to enter the place of dharma practice, it is one of our great fortunes. When we have luck, the practice the Dharma will provide us even greater luck. Every teacher, every person we meet is a lucky opportunity to build a fortune together, in the present moment. For us to practice the Dharma and reach the highest Dharma takes time and the exercise of faith. These are subtle things. But the Lord Buddha has pointed the way for us to walk. Let us have faith so that we can see the meaning in the Dharma, in the practice, whether there is good in our lives or not, remembering that hard times, comfort, and happiness all must fade away."
