Description
Baan Sa Ngiam-Manee (บ้านเสงี่ยม-มณี) is one of our favorite guesthouses in Sakon Nakhon. Centrally located in downtown Sakon Nakhon, this guesthouse/homestay is a traditional Thai wood house that is walking distance from the famous temple Wat Phra That Choeng Chum, as well as from many shops, food stalls, and restaurants.
Baan Sa Ngiam-Manee is not only a Sakon Nakhon guesthouse but a community arts center, the ground floor of the house being home to The Art Hopper coffeehouse, which not only sells delicious coffee and drinks in a vintage Thai atmosphere, but also has for sale items made by local artisans.
Baan Sa Ngiam-Manee's room prices are inexpensive, and average around 1,000 baht. However, if you arrive in person before booking a room, you could probably negotiate a lower price for an extended stay. The rooms are minimally furnished but charming, due to the lovely nature of the old Thai house. There is a family room available with bunk-beds, and the entire guesthouse is extremely clean and well kept.
Baan Sa Ngiam-Manee is run by a young, dedicated staff that is friendly to foreigners and keenly interested in helping guests enjoy their stay in Sakon Nakhon. If you need any help communicating your needs, remember to use Google Translate to help you over any communication hurdles you might encounter.
