Description
Burn It: Grilling Station (เบิร์น อิท ปิ้ง ย่าง) is currently the best restaurant in Sakon Nakhon for a buffet style dinner of grilled pork, beef, and seafood. Previously, we mentioned that Mi-Hao Moogata is our favorite traditional "mookata" restaurant in Sakon Nakhon. And that is still the case, because we don't categorize Burn It as a classic mookata (หมูกระทะ) self-style barbecue.
The locals describe Burn It (Grilling Station) as a modern hi-so mookata restaurant, with higher quality meats (including Sakon Nakhon's famous Pon Yang Kham beef), fresher and better seafood (which often is hard to come by in Northeast Thailand), surprisingly delicious Thai snails, tasty soups and appetizers, and superior desserts and ice cream.
It is hard to compare the overall high quality of Burn It's buffet to any other mookata in Sakon Nakhon (although we do find the dipping sauces to be a little better at Mi-Hao Moogata). The price for the regular buffet is 299 baht, which while a little expensive for a regular restaurant dinner is incredibly cheap for a good quality meat and seafood buffet with nice deserts.
If you would like Pon Yang Kham beef included (instead of Burn It's regular beef offering), the price goes up to 399 baht for the "Premium Buffet," which again is very cheap for steak that rivals Japan's Wagyu beef. Seafood offerings include nicely sized shrimp, muscles, and clams.
The inside of Burn It (Grilling Station) is rustic and comfortable with lovely wood tables. The grill pan or roaster is built into the table and isn't a domed mookata pan (as one typically see at a traditional moogata) but more like a deep Japanese wok. We have yet to see a similar style grill pan at any other Sakon Nakhon restaurant.
Burn It is located in downtown Sakon Nakhon and only about 100 meters from Come Home Cafe, one the best coffeehouses in the city.
