Description
The Creative Craft Center at Mann Gardens (สวนแมน) is a labor of love. The weekend crafts market has been slowly and meticulously developed by Sakon Nakhon artisan Prach Niyomkar (aka Mann Craft). Khun Mann is deeply involved with the Sakon Nakhon arts and crafts community, operating his own downtown shop of hand dyed textiles and fashion.
He coordinates with other local artisans to sell their handmade products at his beautiful gardens on the 1st and last Sunday of every month (10am - 5pm). However, there occasionally are other weekend days when the market open, so it is best to check the Creative Craft Center Facebook page to see whether it is open on the weekend day of interest.
At the Mann Gardens crafts market, you'll find a wide variety of locally made products, including handmade soaps, handwoven baskets and textiles, indigo dyed fashion (including shirts, jackets, and scarves), hand fired glass figurines, traditional pottery, and more. You can also sample delicious food, such as the Thai favorites look chin and kanom jeen, as well as fish burgers, beef burgers, along with iced coffee and traditional Thai tea.
There is a children's table where kids and those who are young at heart can experiment with making crafts, and Mann Craft often holds workshops, showing people how they can make their own hand-dyed products. As Khun Mann speaks English, foreign visitors who don't speak Thai may also join the workshop.
The Creative Craft Center at Mann Gardens (สวนแมน) is located across the street from Wat Amphawan, and only about 10 minutes from downtown Sakon Nakhon. Plenty of parking space outside the gardens is available. To view a full photo gallery, go to: Mann Garden Weekend Crafts Market.
