Description
Nakai Cafe (นาไคคาเฟ่) is a nice little coffeehouse on the road that runs parallel to the backside of Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University. It's only about 2 kilometers from the university, so you will sometimes see students there enjoying and iced coffee or Thai iced tea — the iced green tea is especially delicious.
In addition to the usual drinks that you'll find at Sakon Nakhon coffeehouses, they have a few cakes, custards, and french fries. They also carry their very own sugar-free herbal drinking water, which is actually quite good! And it is available for purchase in bottles to take home. These herbal waters have no calories, and are said to nourish the liver, kidneys, bones, and brain, as well as reduce wrinkles! Flavors include Jujube Roselle, Lemongrass, Butterfly Pea, and Bael (stone apple).
Nakai Cafe also sells its own Jackfruit chips, which are made by hand, and the locally-made Lingtone Avocado Milk (a rich and creamy non-dairy alternative). The coffeehouse is quiet and clean, with both inside and outside seating, making it a nice place to get some laptop work done or chat with a friend. Wifi is available and free.
If you are looking for a temple to visit in this area, there is a beautiful one only about 2 kilometers down the road. It's named Sri Chai Rattanakot Ashram (อาศรมศรีชัยรัตนโคตร), and has a gorgeous white Viharn and pond Pagoda.
