Description
Tina's expat bar in Sakon Nakhon isn't a "beer bar" as one thinks of them in Bangkok or Pattaya, but rather it's a small bar with pool table that serves only beer. The selection is limited to perhaps the 3 most popular beers in Thailand: Leo, Chang, and Singha Light. However, if you become a regular of Tina's, the owner will be happy to keep on hand your choice of beer, if it is available. For example, we've been able to keep a few Snowy Weizen beer in stock for us, when we drop by the bar.
Tina's does allow you bring your own bottle of spirits in, but there is a bottle opening fee, and you'll need to pay for mixers, including bottle water. The pool table at Tina's is only 10 baht per game, and it is often available. So, ordinarily you won't have to wait to play a game, or (if you do), not very long.
The expats who frequent Tina's are all friendly, and a good source of quality advice on how to navigate your life (as a retiree or teacher) in Sakon Nakhon. While no food is served, there are nearby food stalls, and you can likely get the bartender to run out and get some food for you, if you're feeling a little peckish.
Tina's expat bar is located just on the outskirts of the Sakon Nakhon downtown area, about halfway between Raksakol Hospital and the Sakon Nakhon Bus Terminal. The bar opens at 2 p.m. every day and closes sometime between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., depending on business.
