Wat Tham Pha Daen Photo Gallery

Wat Tham Pha Daen is a gorgeous temple complex in Sakon Nakhon, Thailand. More than a Buddhist temple, Wat Tham Pha Daen is a museum of sacred art work, built into a mountainside. Artistic attractions include many different kinds of Buddha statues, made with different materials; beautiful carvings of the Buddha in stone and teak wood; cliffside carvings of famous monks; a dazzling Buddha with 7 headed Naga dragon; ancient sacred trees, and more. While the temple can get quite busy with local Thai tourists Friday-Sunday (but not too busy if you arrive at 8am), the temple often has few tourists the other days of the weeks, especially during the school year, making it a great “off the beaten track” destination for foreign tourists, who are looking to escape the crowds and experience authentic Thailand.
