Description
Ban Pracha Suksan Forest Trail (เขตป่าบ้านประชาสุขสันต์) is a national forest area of 476 rai, or 188 acres, in the Sakon Nakhon village of Ban Pracha Suksan in the Khamin subdistrict, which is about 30 minutes from Sakon Nakhon city. This area is not on Google Maps, but isn't too hard to find.
If you would like to do some hiking on this trail, which takes you through some lovely rocky woods, and up upon hilltops to get a nice view of Sakon Nakhon and Huai Nam Bo Reservoir, you take the Google Maps directions to Pricha Suksan Waterfall. When you get to area where the road descends down into the forest (and gets worse), you'll see the cement wall at the back end of Ham Bing Pracha Suk San Priest's Camp Site, which has a small gate in the center. Across from that area where the gate is, you will see a sign for the forest, and the entrance to the trail.
This is not a well worn hiking trail, but one which is strewn with rocks. But that makes the hiking more fun, and it isn't too difficult to walk up the side of the forest hill to the first overlook. Some previous visitors have created some zen like rock formations at the ledge, which is a customary practice among the locals. To ensure that you don't get lost, it is best to hike in the area nearby where the road goes, so you can return easily from where you came.
