Description
Rok’ n Road is a quaint, ramshackle coffee shop that serves some of the best coffee in Sakon Nakhon. The shop uses Arabica beans grown in the popular coffee growing region of Chiang Mai province (read our Doi Inthanon coffee review). The coffee beans are freshly ground on the counter using a hand grinder. As is the custom of Thailand slow bars, the ground coffee is then slow dripped — the final result being a quite strong and rich cup of joe.
Rok’ n Road is eclectically decorated with vintage items, including an American flag, an old bowling pin sign, and a classic typewriter. This little coffee shop has the relaxed atmosphere of a bamboo beach bar, and has a number of friendly cat mascots who will love you to pet them.
In addition to coffee drinks (affordably priced), Rok 'n Road also sells beer at low prices. Occasionally the shop will offer BBQ spare ribs or delicious cheeseburgers in the evening, but that is only on some days. Currently, they are also selling packaged cuts of fine pork and beef. Follow the Rok n' Road Facebook page for updates on special food happenings.
Rok 'n Road Coffee is located on a tiny alley near the downtown area of Sakon Nakhon. And it can be quite confusing to find the shop if you are using Google Maps. Whichever direction you are coming from, our advice is to get on the highway near Tesco and head toward Robinson's. Stay in the left hand lane, and only turn on the Google Maps directions as you approach Robinson's. We don't recommend trying to get to Rok n' Road by coming from the other direction.
