Description
Ban Suan Phu (บ้านสวนภู) is one of the most popular restaurants in Sakon Nakhon, with a vast menu of Thai dishes, including a Shabu menu. For those not familiar with Shabu, it is a Japanese hotpot dish of thinly sliced meat and vegetables boiled in water and served with dipping sauces.
The service is friendly, with a welcome drink provided on arrival. For those sensitive to MSG, Ban Suan Phu is one of the few restaurants in Sakon Nakhon who state that use use no MSG in their recipes. All items are translated into English, so foreigners will have no problem ordering (although keep in mind that the staff do not speak English).
A few of our favorite dishes include the baked crab with vermicelli, the fish cakes, crispy pork, and dtohm saep w/ fish. All prices are very affordable, considering the quality and presentation.
