Ban Suan Sayai - The Specialty House (บ้านสวนสะใญ่) is a secluded Thai coffeehouse located in beautiful home gardens on a reservoir in Tambon That Na Weng (Sakon Nakhon). While this garden coffeehouse is kind of in the middle of nowhere (and thus very peaceful), it is only about 3.5 kilometers from Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University, and easy to get to if you follow the directions provided by Google Maps.
Ban Suan Sayai currently doesn't offer any food or desserts, but only coffee and tea drinks. However, that could change in the future if business picks up. The coffee shop has been open for a year, but because the place is so hidden away, it has had trouble attracting customers. We certainly hope this changes, because their garden grounds on the reservoir are lovely, and quite cool (even during the sweltering afternoons of the hot season).
Ban Suan Sayai is an excellent place to bring a group, as they have a beautiful Thai style pavilion with large table and other seating. There are also swings and a stream, all in a thoughtfully landscaped garden setting, with a cool breeze often blowing in across the reservoir.
The coffee house is not far from Wat Amalakaram and the Naga Pu Ong Dam shrine. The cafe has a very friendly resident cat and dog that will be happy to welcome you on your visit (along with the very friendly owner). So, please do pay a visit to Ban Suan Sayai!
