Description
Blue Bica Coffee is a quaint, minimalist coffeehouse near the center of Sakon Nakhon city. The "local art space" on the 2nd floor is currently closed, so (at least for now) this isn't a place to view the works of local artists. Blue Bica Coffee is to be praised for its support of the Sakon Nakhon arts scene, but one needs to be aware that if you if see an art exhibition being sponsored in part by them, that doesn't mean the event is being hosted at the coffeehouse. For example, the current children's art exhibition (July 2022) is being shown exclusively at the Thongthawapi Art Gallery at Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University.
Blue Bica Coffee offers hot and cold tea drinks, Italian soda, and a variety of specialty coffee drinks, a number of which we haven't seen before at Sakon Nakhon coffeehouses, such as Cafe Shakerato (an Italian style shaked coffee), Espresso Con Panna (Espresso topped with whipped cream), Affogato (a coffee based dessert with ice cream) and an Iced Mocha Coconut coffee.
Blue Bica Coffee sells a number of Thailand coffee blends to take home and brew, including Go+ and City Blend (both of which are made from beans grown in Mae Hong Son, near Chiang Mai), and Blue Bica's own coffee blends, including their house blend, which is made from beans grown in the North of Thailand (in Chiang Rai) and the South of Thailand (in Chumphon).
It's usually not easy to find a parking space near Blue Bica Coffee if you are driving a car (often an open spot will be a couple hundred of meters away), as the coffeehouse is located on a small soi in the Sakon Nakhon business district. So, you may want to plan your visit to this specialty coffeehouse when doing a walkabout of other attractions in the downtown area, such as the nearby temples of Wat Phra That Choeng Chum and the Royal Wat Chaeng Saeng Arun.
