Description
The Sakon Nakhon waterfalls called Fai Nam Dtok Soon Rian Roo Kam Maak Fai (ฝายน้ำตกศูนย์เรียนรู้คำหมากไฟ) are secluded waterfall that few tourists have ever visited. The small but long waterfalls travel up the side of a mountain, with a trail running beside it. It makes for a scenic hike, and you can cool off in the pools.
You will want to visit these waterfalls when the rainy season is in full swing, August through October, as they dry up during the dry season. When visiting these falls be sure also to drop by the Wat Phu Danhang temple, which you'll pass on the way to the falls. When you pass the small reservoir (a sister to the main Huai Sai Reservoir) you'll know that you are getting a close to the falls.
If you are interested in other Sakon Nakhon waterfalls, be sure to check out Kham Hom Waterfall, which is located in the winding "snake curve" road you travel when descending the Phu Phan mountains into Sakon Nakhon
