Khun Kram Coffee, which translates to Mr. Indigo Coffee, is a Western/Thai style cafe located within KramSakon, a shop which specializes in locally-made Indigo clothing. There are two areas of the cafe, an open table area which sits adjacent to the parking lot and leads out into the garden area, and a 2nd enclosed section with air-conditioning, but which also has tables on the outside.
Khun Kram Coffee offers all the usual kinds of coffee and tea that you find at a Thai coffee shop, but we have to say that the lemon iced tea we had was unusually delicious. There are also locally made snacks, ice cream, and fruit smoothies (such as mango, kiwi, orange, and passion fruit). As to lunch dishes, they offer thin crusted pizzas for only 200 baht, steaks made with the famous, locally produced Pon Yang Kham beef, spaghetti, and a wide variety of Thai dishes with fresh, locally produced ingredients.
For those who like to share photos on social media, there is a bench besides which stands a handsome statue of a Thai man wearing only traditional shorts and headband, which is popular among visitors looking to snap a keepsake photo.
Whether you are shopping for Indigo items or not, Khun Kram Cafe is a worthwhile stop to enjoy a relaxing lunch in attractive surroundings, with well chosen ambient music. It is located only about 15 minutes from downtown Sakon Nakhon, on Highway 2339, which is the road you take to the popular tourist attraction Wat Tham Pha Daen. If you are coming from Sakon Nakhon city, look for the big Indigo teddy bear in the front yard.
