Description
Pooh Whan Bakery & Coffee (like Sakon Nakhon's Come Home Coffeehouse) has two locations: one in Sakon Nakhon city, next to the hospital, and a branch shop at Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University. The photos that accompany this listing are from their SNRU coffee shop, which is located on the side of the campus where the sports stadium is. The video below, however, is from their downtown location.
Pooh Whan is well-known for their high quality, home-made baked goods, including a large variety of traditional Thai sweets such as pandan custard breads, egg tarts, dried bananas, and salted egg lava bread, as well as Western style desserts and breads, such as almond butter croissants, chocolate brownies, oreo cake, raisin bread, and more.
Pooh Whan also has a large variety of coffee drinks (hot and cold) that beats the local Starbucks in both price and deliciousness. In fact, we can say that their iced caramel latte is the best one that we have had in Sakon Nakhon. There are also many delicious drink offerings with no caffeine, such as anchan honey lemon soda, orange and blueberry smoothies, mulberry juice, and other offerings.
Service is friendly and prompt, and while the prices are a little higher than some small Thai coffee shops, it is still cheap compared to Bangkok coffeehouse, and the quality more than makes up for a few baht extra at the cash register.
