Description
The Thongthawapee Art Gallery (หอศิลป์ทองทวาปี มหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏสกลนคร) is the most active art gallery in Sakon Nakhon, promoting local painters and visual artists, as well as occasionally bringing in outside art exhibitions. The gallery is located on the campus of Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University, and managed by the college's Fine Arts Program.
Every year the Thongthawapee Art Gallery hosts the Art Thesis Exhbition, showcasing the works of 4th year Fine Arts students. Notable exhibitions of the past year have included Ajarn Ekanrin Klaewklong's beautiful series of paintings celebrating Sakon Nakhon's famous wax castle festival (ปราสาทผึ้ง); a cutting-edge watercolor series that was integrated with discussions of digital NFTs and the metaverse, Ajarn Tanupon Enon's contemporary acrylic on canvas paintings that represent in striking iconic fashion the way of life and beliefs of the Isaan people; a children's art exhibition (The World Through a Child's Eye); and a large exhibition of paintings, sculpture, printmaking, clay, line drawing, and photos from Thai artists.
Thongthawapee Art Gallery (หอศิลป์ทองทวาปี มหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏสกลนคร) is open daily from 9am to 5pm, and entrance is free of charge.
