Description
Upper Huai Sai Reservoir #3, also called Huai Sai Ton Bon 3 (ห้วยทรายตอนบน 3), is only 1.5 km past Upper Huai Sai Reservoir #2. It is the smallest of the 3 upper Huai Sai reservoirs, and the least impressive. However, there is one interesting aspect of this reservoir, and that is the unique rocks which create natural forming rock gardens. There is also rocky areas to hike around through.
If you wish to visit this reservoir, you pretty much need to come from the direction of Huai Sai Ton Bon 2, because the road coming to the reservoir from the other direction is a rocky, washed out mess that requires good handling of a motorbike, preferably one with some fatter wheels.
Don't forget that when it comes to the Huai Sai reservoirs, the most beautiful one is not one of the upper reservoirs but the main low-lying Huai Sai Reservoir (อ่างเก็บน้ำห้วยทราย), which is fully landscaped with a 7 km solar lit walking/bike path, and close to the main road going toward Udon Thani.
