The 7th Rajabhat University National Research Conference
Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University had the honor and pleasure of hosting The 7th Rajabhat University National and International Research and Academic Conference (RUNIRAC VII). The scholarly conference was held on the campus from November 14th – 16th (2023). Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University often has the honor of hosting large events. Every year it hosts the graduation ceremonies of Northeast Rajabhat Universities, and this past year it hosted many of the best artists in Thailand at the Thai Art Identity Exhibition, where Arts faculty members of 31 Rajabhat universities showcased their artwork.
Invited guest speakers at the 7th Rajabhat University Conference included local speakers, such as Dr. Kanlayarat Jarukorn Jindarat (President of the Sakon Nakhon Provincial Chamber of Commerce) who discussed how Sakon Nakhon can use its human and material assets to move it towards an international economy.
Prominent Thailand academics who were awarded the title of Outstanding Researcher, included Dr. Sarawut Boonkerdrum of Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University who discussed the development innovative water management to increase agricultural production of dry season crops in the Ban Nang Noi area, Tao Ngoi Subdistrict, Tao Ngoi District of Sakon Nakhon Province; Dr. Natthida Srirajaya of Surat Thani Rajabhat University who discussed her development of an innovative cocoa bean roasting and shelling machine; Dr. Natthaphon Srisittipokkul of Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University who discussed his research into how leftover colored glass waste from glass factories can be used Nakhon Pathom artisans to make jewelry; and many other researchers across Thailand.
Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University is well-known for its Thailand University English programs, in particular in Northeast Thailand. The university has two English departments: English for Business Communication and Academic English. At the 7th Rajabhat University Research Conference (RUNIRAC VII), SNRU faculty members moderated and provided helpful critiques of presentations in the field of English instruction.
SNRU English faculty members also presented their own research, including Dr. Phaisit Boriboon, who discussed the development of critical reading skills among English language students; Sasinan Toochaleesrithin, who discussed Thai translation techniques of English language songs; Thidawan Wichanee, who delved into the social semiotic analysis of textbooks; and Yatawee Chaiyamat, who analyzed the trends (past to present) of teaching English reading.
